I have worked with children birth to adolescence for over 24 years, including working as a bilingual SLP for 18 years and as a classroom teacher of preschool through 8th grade. My experience includes work in a variety of public school, hospital and private practice settings in and around Los Angeles County.
I also have experience in the hospital setting and completed a 6-month internship at Children's Hospital in Los Angeles in 1990. For the last 15 years I have worked in several different programs and schools in the Redondo Beach Unified School District.
Education:
I received my Bachelors degree in Linguistics and Psychology from UCLA in 1983. I completed my multiple subjects teaching credential and received my Masters degree in Communication Disorders from Cal State LA in 1990.
During High School I was an exchange student with AFS and lived a year in Brasil with a Brasilian family. Because of this I am fluent in Portuguese, and very understanding of the challenges of learning a new culture and language. When I first began teaching in 1984, I worked in South Central LA with Spanish speaking children and am now fluent in Spanish too.
